Fran Dunphy, Temple Head Coach
On team’s three-point struggles:
"6-of-31 from 3 is not very good. We obviously did not think we were going to shoot that poorly from the 3-point line. We had so many opportunities tonight and we just could not take advantage of them."
Kevin Ollie, UConn Head Coach
On graduating seniors:
"I want to thank our seniors so much. All those guys have done some great things for our program."
"Great game for us, I thought we needed that game. We battled all night and held them to 36% shooting. We have been working on our 3-point defense and we did a great job tonight holding them to 6-of-31."
On Christian Vital's play:
"Vital is determined out there to get as many rebounds as possible. He is just a great player. He is not afraid to stick his nose in there and get down on the floor. His shot wasn't falling but he still played great."
Jalen Adams, UConn Guard
On tonight’s game:
One, we wanted to send the seniors out the right way and two it’s just always good to start playing your best basketball towards the end of the season getting ready to go into the conference play and how crucial that is for our season. We’re just really focused on figuring that out and getting the right pieces to click at the right time.
On getting a home win:
It was great. It definitely changes the spirit around practice, everyone is more excited to come play and I think today we were just out there having fun. It was enjoyable basketball for us and for the fans so it was great to play like that today.
On coming out after the half:
We just knew we had to stop them from shooting three pointers as well as they were in the start of the game so that was really huge for us and once we were able to run them off the three point line I think our defense was able to adjust and Mamadou [Diarra] did a great job being there on a lot of blocked shots.
Mamadou Diarra, UConn Forward
On the team’s energy:
I think overall as a team today we just had a lot of energy and played hard on defense. We just got it done tonight.
On going into the season finale with a win:
I mean a win always builds momentum. A win is a win. We’re just going to see what we did wrong in the game, see what we can fix from that and the good things we did, continue to do that as well and just continue to grow from there.
Antwoine Anderson, UConn Guard
On his big shots down the stretch:
I like taking those shots. Those are the shots that I make all the time so just practicing them and the repetition.
On finishing off the season with a win:
It’s really important especially heading out to Houston. We just want to have momentum and just show everybody the team that we actually are instead of what we’ve been displaying. I think this really helped us.
