STORRS, Conn. – Each of the 13 players that saw floor time for the UConn men’s basketball team scored on Saturday afternoon, as the Huskies rolled to a 94-65 win against Southern Connecticut State in the final exhibition of the preseason.

Senior center Amida Brimah scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, helping the Huskies expand their 11-point halftime lead to a blowout win. Four players netted double-figures, including senior Rodney Purvis with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Sophomore Jalen Adams added 15 points in the victory, while redshirt sophomore Terry Larrier had another impressive performance with 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 19 minutes of play.

As a team, the Huskies shot 66.7-percent from the field (36-of-54) – including 71.4-percent (20-of-28) in the second half.

All players who suited up for the Huskies got playing time, as senior Mike Noyes, junior Christina Foxen and junior Restinel Lomotey combined for seven points on 3-of-6 shooting in the final minutes of the contest.

Leading 44-33 at halftime, Brimah scored UConn’s first 10 points out of the locker room – including a pair of vicious dunks on passes from Purvis and Adams – to give the Huskies a commanding lead.

UConn outscored the Owls, 50-32, in the second half on its way to a lopsided win in front of a home crowd of 6,305 fans.

Owls’ senior star Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) was kept in check, scoring 14 points on just 4-of-17 shooting. SCSU shot just 31-percent from the field (22-of-71). Senior Kentan Facey and sophomore Steven Enoch recorded two blocks each on Saturday.

Purvis and Adams combined for 27 of UConn’s 44 first half points, as the Huskies shot 61.5-percent (16-of-26) as a team from the field. UConn’s defense also frustrated the Owl’s offense, holding it to 33.3-percent shooting (12-of-36).

Larrier scored nine points and grabbed a pair of rebounds off the bench in the first 20 minutes of play. Freshman guard Alterique Gilbert snagged four rebounds, leading the Huskies in their 19-11 defensive rebounding edge.

No. 18 UConn opens regular season play on Friday night against Wagner. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. (ET) in Gampel Pavilion and will be broadcast on SNY.
