Kevin Ollie, Head Coach
On his team’s play.
"We did a great job limiting them to no field goals in the first 13 minutes. We have been doing a great job turning teams over. In all three exhibition games we had at least 10 steals so we want to keep that up."
On Josh Carlton.
"He is really good. I like all of our young bigs. I love how Josh keeps the ball high on the offensive end and he has some real solid footwork on the defensive end. He's not Tim Duncan yet, but he has some real good footwork."
On assist numbers rising.
"Yeah, assists are the one thing that will keep us connected as a team. I still don't like the amount of turnovers we had, it's just way too much for an exhibition game. I like our assist numbers, I think we have some great facilitators."
On the exhibition games.
"I think I just saw myself improve in every game. Now we just have to try and take this momentum into the regular season."
On his low post moves.
"I try to get the ball down low and just be poised with it. I just take what the defense gives me, whether they give me the baseline or middle, I just try to be patient with it."
On keeping the ball high in the post.
"I just do that instinctually. Growing up I always kept it high and coaches always praised me for it so I never thought to change it."
On the game.
"This is exactly what we needed. Our last game we didn't really play the way we wanted to. Today I think the energy was great from start to finish. We had some mistakes but we were able to play through them and have everyone contribute."
On Josh Carlton.
"I didn't expect the big fella to do that today but now that we know he can do that he has to know that it's going to be expected from him every game. He's definitely a talented player. I’m glad him and the other freshman, Isaiah, played well. I'm happy for those guys and I just hope they keep it up because we're going to need them during the season."
