Shabazz Napier: (on the triple double)
It’s a great accomplishment and I’m just real happy about it. Before the game I was talking to Kevin Freeman and I was telling him how I wanted to be an all-around player. I want to help out the team rebounding …. Because if we rebound well, we’re going to win.

I was rebounding and doing what I had to do and guys were making shots, making it easy for me. I feel fortunate to be in the company of those guys (who had the other triple doubles) and I just want to keep moving forward.

I had a feeling I was close to it, so at the four minutes huddle I asked Kevin (Freeman) what I needed and he said one (rebound) and one (assist). I said, ‘Oh, I’ve got to get it.’

Our depth is so crazy, I don’t need to score. I told the team, ‘You know guys, we don’t need someone to score 20-plus every game.’ It’s going to be all-around scoring and it should be that way.

Shabazz always puts guys in good spots to score. He’s got a nose for that. He knows what situation our team is in at any point. Boat does that too. He creates a little more. And Terrence sees what they do.

(Experience with German National Team) “It helped me a lot, being able to go against all these great guys. And a lot of time with good coaches too. I wasn’t restricted by the NCAA rules of how many hours… I was working out twice a day for pretty much 2-3 months. It helped physically too … I came into the season really fit, with strength.”

I thought I did a good job shooting the ball today. We have two games under our belts now and things are starting to come together. I was fortunate to knock down shots today … staying in the gym to work pays off. Hitting the first couple of shots can help anybody’s confidence. That’s what all basketball players think. Definitely hitting the first few shots got my confidence going.

We have great shooters at every position so that will benefit us in the long run. Winning makes everyone look good.

We have a lot of guys who can shoot the ball and having somebody like Shabazz who can penetrate and find them is a big benefit to the team.
