UConn Head Coach Kevin Ollie
"He really dominated the paint and didn't allow any easy touches or easy catches."
on UConn's performance:
"I really like the way our guys responded, especially when we got down by 11, but they turned it on and we had a 27-2 spurt and then an 18-0 run. I thought the guys overall played a good game. It was good to get back in the winning column. The first half and the beginning of the second half we had some lows, and we can't do that against good teams."
Junior, Center, Amida Brimah
On being benched in the first half:
“I made a couple stupid mistakes at the start of the game, I deserved to be on the bench. I was just waiting for my name to be called and get back in the game and pick up the intensity of the game.”
On how the team can improve on recent slow starts:
“We can’t come out underestimating teams. We have to come out with full energy with every team we face.”
RS Junior, Guard, Rodney Purvis
On upcoming games against Maryland and Ohio State:
“This is a huge opportunity for us. We let two huge wins slip away in the Bahamas, but that is in the past, so we have to move forward. This is one of the biggest games that we are going to play and we can’t let these opportunities slip away from us.”
On team’s defense after the slow start
“That’s who we are, we pride ourselves off our defense. If we aren’t playing defense, then our offense is going to be sluggish. Once we start getting stops, communicating, and shuffling on defense then our offense is going to come because we are a great transition team.”
