UConn Head Coach Kevin Ollie
“We played aggressive. I think out of our first 29 points 20 were in the paint so that amazing. We were in attack mode and the defense started stepping up. Overall we had a great game on the defense end and offensive end.”
On first half:
“It was enjoyable to watch. I think everyone played free and played fast, but we also played physical. That is what we have been promoting in practice the last couple of days.”
On Omar Calhoun:
“This is great don’t get me wrong, I would take 14 points, but I would rather take all of the things he brought, the toughness things. That’s what I want to see."
UConn grad student Shonn Miller
On today's game:
"I knew I had to be more aggressive and I started to do that more today."
On dunking over an Ohio State player:
"It felt good! It's every college player's dream to dunk on somebody."
Senior guard Omar Calhoun
On improving his performance:
"I just need to keep breaking down film, locking onto my technique and seeing the little things on defense."
"I feel like this team is together. Everyone can light the gym up on any given day. We all know that, but we stick together. No one is selfish and that's going to help us in the future."
Ohio State Head CoachThad Matta
On the game:
“I thought UConn really came out and attacked us. The biggest thing was our inability to finish the last ten minutes of the first half. We had the ball at the rim, we had some good drive and kick opportunities, some open shots, and some pull ups. When you play a team like UConn you have to throw in some tough two-pointers.”
On UConn’s first half play:
“That was one of the best first halves of basketball I’ve seen in a long time. In terms of their ability of their ability to make difficult shots and their ability to have patience.”
