Houston Edges UConn, 70-68
Despite Ryan Boatright's career-high 31 points, Houston slipped past UConn 70-68 on Sunday.

UConn (11-5, 2-2 The American) dropped a 60-51 decision to the Golden Hurricane on Thursday night at the Reynolds Center. Graduate student Sterling Gibbs (Scotch Plains, N.J.) posted his second-straight 20-point game, while Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) pulled down a team-best 14 rebounds, but the Huskies shot a season-low 30.9 percent from the field and scored just 25 points over the final 20 minutes on their way to their second conference setback.

The Huskies are 3-2 all-time against the Cougars in a series dating back to the 1999-2000 season. Since Houston joined The American prior to the 2013-14 season, the Huskies are 0-2 at Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars enter Sunday’s tilt with a 13-3 overall record and a 3-1 mark in league play. Sophomore guard Rob Gray Jr. leads the squad with 17.7 ppg, while junior guard Damyean Dotson has pulled down a team-best 7.4 rebound per contest. As a team, Houston is averaging 80.1 points and allowing opponents to score just 66.1 per game.

Through 16 games, Connecticut ranks second in The American with a .476 field goal percentage and also checks in at No. 3 with 64.3 points allowed per game. On the national level, graduate student forward Shonn Miller (Euclid, Ohio) ranks 21st with a .606 shooting percentage.

This season, Connecticut owns a 2-1 road record and is 17-17 in true road contests under fourth-year head coach Kevin Ollie.
