CHICAGO - UConn men's basketball signee Alterique Gilbert (Lithonia, Ga.) has earned a pair of invitations to the 2016 McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, as announced last week.

Gilbert was one of 24 athletes chosen during ESPNU's McDonald's All-American Selection Show on Jan. 17 to represent the best high school basketball talent from across the nation and is set to take the floor at Chicago's United Center on March 30, 2016 to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. He will also compete at the Jordan Brand Classic at the Barclays Center on April 17, 2015. Since 2002, the Jordan Brand Classic has celebrated elite high school basketball talent from across the country.
Gilbert, a 5-11 point guard out of Miller Grover High School, is rated among the top 30 players nationally by most recruiting services. An exceptional athlete known for his tremendous speed, quickness, and strength, he averaged 18.5 points, 6.2 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.3 steals as a junior. Through 10 games during his senior season, he leads the squad with 22.2 points per game and also chips in 6.3 assists and 4.1 steals per contest.
Gilbert is one of four student-athletes who signed with program in November and will enroll as a full-time student in the fall of 2016.
