"Jim just called me and said he had some difficulty, and was going to take practice off, and probably the game. So I just went about my business from there."

"Jim called me on the way back from the hospital yesterday, and we spoke for a while. We talked about practice and what we were going to do. And just went ahead with it."

"When I decided what to do with the team, I brought in the four older guys: Jerome [Dyson], Kemba [Walker], Gavin [Edwards], and Stanley [Robinson]. I told them first. I asked them if they would help with the younger guys, just making sure, because they have been there before. They knew the program the best."

"I'm not a big history guy; and I'm not a big future guy. I really am a guy who tries to spend time in what we have to do today. That's always the way I coached. That's always the way I approached the game."

On player's reaction "The players were good. They were very surprised, but they were very good, as I would expect they would be. It's (Jim's) team. He has shown them how to deal with adversity."

Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway

"Our primary concern is Coach Calhoun and his health. We're going to do everything we can do to support him during this time away from the office. Both Jim and I feel very comfortable that Coach Blaney is in charge of the team during this time and our confident that he'll do his usual great job."

"There's only one timetable here, and that's when Doctor Schulman talks with Jim and tells him it's ok to go back."
