PROVIDENCE, R.I. --- For the second time this season, UConn freshman Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) has been named American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.
In addition, senior Ryan Boatright (Aurora, Ill.) was named to the league’s weekly Honor Roll for the seventh time this season.
Hamilton filled the stat sheet, averaging 8.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.5 steals as the Huskies posted victories over UCF and USF. Against UCF, the 6-7 freshman had a near triple-double with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists, and added 3 steals. Hamilton was also named the league’s Rookie of the Week on Nov. 24.
Boatright averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 assists, shot 56.5 percent overall, 72.7 percent from three-point range, and 92.3 percent from the foul line in the two wins. Against USF, the senior had a career-high 28 points, and scored 13 straight points for UConn midway through the second half to put the Huskies in control. He also was 7-of-10 overall, 4-of-5 from three-point range, and 10-of-011 from the foul line. Boatright was the AAC Player of the Week on Nov. 24.
The Player of the Week this week was SMU’s Nic Moore, while Cincinnati’s Troy Caupain, Memphis’ Austin Nichols, Temple’s Jesse Morgan and Tulsa’s Shaquille Harrison joined Boatright on the Honor Roll.
