DALLAS --- The UConn men’s basketball team will make its seventh appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay when it visits No. 23 SMU at Moody Coliseum in Dallas on Feb. 14, 2015, at 9 p.m. (EST) on ESPN.
GameDay’s first hour begins at 9 a.m. on ESPNU, continuing live at 10 a.m. on ESPN, plus an evening edition at 7 p.m., leading into the primetime game on ESPN.
It will mark UConn’s seventh appearance on GameDay and the second GameDay for teams in the American Athletic Conference after last season’s Louisville-at-UConn game. The Huskies are 2-4 in their six previous appearances, 0-3 at home and 2-1 as the road team.
The Huskies bowed to Pittsburgh, 76-66, in their first GameDay appearance at Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 22, 2005. UConn posted a GameDay victory on Jan. 21, 2006, beating Louisville, 71-58, at Freedom Hall. UConn lost at Louisiana State, 66-49, in its GameDay appearance on Jan. 6, 2007, and defeated Notre Dame, 69-61, at the Joyce Center in South Bend on Jan. 24, 2009. The Huskies bowed to Syracuse, 71-69, on Feb. 25, 2012, at Gampel Pavilion, and fell to Louisville, 76-64, on Jan. 18, 2014, at Gampel.
GameDay has been held at Gampel Pavilion four times, including the first-ever GameDay on Jan. 22, 2005, against Pitt, and the first-ever Women’s College Basketball GameDay on Jan. 16, 2010, when the UConn women defeated Notre Dame, 70-46.
“This is a great honor for everyone involved with SMU basketball,” said SMU head coach Larry Brown. “Getting to host College GameDay says a lot about the passion Mustang fans bring to Moody Coliseum, and how they are helping our program rise in national prominence.”
ESPN's College GameDay, the Saturday morning and evening roadshow that discusses the top storylines of the college basketball season, is hosted by Rece Davis, and will be joined by Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams onsite. Jay Bilas will contribute to the GameDay telecasts from the Carrier Dome.
