Boatright Named AAC Player Of Week

Ryan Boatright was named the AAC Player of the Week.

PROVIDENCE --- After leading the UConn men’s basketball team to a pair of league victories, senior Ryan Boatright (Aurora, Ill.) has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today.

It is the second time this season that Boatright has received the honor. He was also named the Player of the Week on Nov. 24 and has been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll eight times.

Boatright averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, shot 52.0 percent overall, 61.5 percent from three-point range, and a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line as UConn defeated East Carolina at home, 65-52, and Tulane on the road, 62-53.

Against East Carolina, Boatright had a game-high 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Against Tulane, the UConn point guard scored 18 points, grabbed a career-high 9 rebounds, and handed out 5 assists. In a combined 75 minutes of playing time, Boatright committed only one turnover.

Boatright, the AAC preseason Player of the Year, leads the league in scoring at 17.8 points per game.

Also earning league honors this week is Rookie of the Week B.J. Tyson of East Carolina and named to the Weekly Honor Roll are Farad Cobb of Cincinnati, Shaq Goodwin of Memphis, Corey Allen of USF, Nic Moore of SMU, and Temple’s Will Cummings.
