PHILADELPHIA – Winners of three-straight, the UConn men’s basketball team returns to the court on Thursday, Feb. 11 when it travels to Philadelphia, Pa. to challenge Temple at Liacouras Center at 7 p.m. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN2 with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (17-6, 7-3 The American) cruised to an 85-67 win over East Carolina on Sunday, led by a double-double effort (12 points, 16 rebounds) from sophomore standout Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.), who earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday. Reigning league Freshman of the Week Jalen Adams matched a career-best with 14 points and dished out four assists in the 18-point victory.
The Huskies are 6-6 all-time against the Owls in a series dating back to the 1950-51 season. The Owls picked up a 55-53 win over Connecticut on Jan. 5 at the XL Center in the first meeting of the season.
Temple (14-8, 8-3), which is on a three-game winning streak, is coming off a 62-60 win at UCF on Saturday. The Owls are led in scoring by guard Quenton DeCosey (16.5), while forward Jaylen Bond is the top rebounder (7.9), and guard Josh Brown leads in assists (4.5).
Through 23 games, UConn ranks second in the nation, allowing opponents to shoot just .368 from the field. The team also ranks in the top-10 in free-throw percentage (76.4) and scoring defense (61.4). Individually, Hamilton stands at No. 7 in the country with 8.17 defensive rebounds per game, while graduate forward Shonn Miller (Euclid, Ohio) is 24th with a .588 field goal percentage.
