UConn (18-7, 8-4 The American) is coming off a 75-73 victory over Tulsa on Feb. 13 behind a 12-point, 10-rebound effort from sophomore forward Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.). Omar Calhoun (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned his second start of the season and tallied 14 points with three boards in 28 minutes of action, while redshirt-junior guard Rodney Purvis (Raleigh, N.C.) added 11 points off the bench.

During halftime on Saturday, former Husky great Caron Butler was inducted in the Huskies of Honor. Butler became the 24th member of the Men’s Basketball Huskies of Honor, which recognizes the best of the best in UConn history, for their accomplishments at UConn and beyond.

Connecticut is 1-5 all-time against SMU in a series that dates back to the 1965-66 season. The two programs last met on the court in the 2015 American championship title game where the Mustangs held off the Huskies, 62-54, at the XL Center.

SMU (21-3, 9-3), which is 3-3 since winning its first 18 games, is coming off a 69-60 non-conference win over Gonzaga on Saturday. The Mustangs are led in scoring by reigning league Player of the Year guard Nic Moore (16.7) and forward Ben Moore (12.1). Forward Jordan Tolbert leads the team in rebounding (8.7) and Nic Moore is tops in assists (5.2).

The Huskies own a 5-2 mark at the XL center in 2015-16 and are 28-7 (.800) at their off-campus home facility in four years under current head coach Kevin Ollie.
