STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut and ShopRite have teamed up once again to help the hungry with a canned food drive before the UConn vs. Cincinnati men’s basketball game on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. Fans are asked to bring a canned food item to collection bins located at all entrances of the XL Center.
Canned food donations will be accepted from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Fans who donate will be entered into a drawing to receive two club level tickets for UConn football’s opening game against Towson University on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Rentschler Field. The winner will be announced during the second half of Thursday’s game.
ShopRite has a longstanding tradition of helping the hungry through its ShopRite Partners In Caring program. With nearly 50 million Americans, including more than 16 million children, suffering from food insecurity, ShopRite Partners In Caring, a year-round, community based hunger fighting charity, helps to raise awareness and inspire action within local communities. Since its inception in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has donated $29 million to local food banks that support more than 1,700 charities in providing food assistance throughout the Northeast.
