UConn heads into the game following a tough loss to Providence on Tuesday, 72-70. The Huskies are 17-12 on the season and 7-10 in conference play. The Panthers (16-14, 5-12 BIG EAST) are coming off one of their best games of the season, beating St. John's 89-69 on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh will be looking for revenge after last year's BIG EAST Tournament match up. Husky fans will forever remember that game and Kemba Walker'sfamous step-back, buzzer beater for the win. UConn went on to beat Louisville in the final and started their run at a third national championship.
The men's basketball team will recognize four seniors who serve as team managers and three players who are all multiple-year walk-ons. The managers are Paul Rozzerto, an accounting major from South Windsor, Conn., Zack Wainwright a sports management major from Rocky Hill, Conn., Katie McMahon, a coaching and administration major from Cromwell, Conn., and Rob Spiesman, a finance major from Dix Hills, New York.
The walk-ons who work hard every day to make the team better are Peter Cochrane, a sports promotion major from Newtown, Conn., Ben Stewart a business major from Denver, Colorado and Kyle Bailey, a management and engineering for manufacturing major from Lancaster, New Hampshire. Bailey is a five-year member of the Huskies.
Fans are reminded to get into Gampel Pavilion at 11:40 a.m. to witness this year's senior presentations.
