STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men’s basketball team wraps up regular season play on Sunday, March 6 when it hosts UCF at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. on ESPNU with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (20-10, 10-7 The American) fell, 80-54, to SMU on Thursday night despite a 20-point effort from graduate guard Sterling Gibbs (Scotch Plains, N.J.) The Mustangs shot 51.6 percent during the game, including 59.3 percent in the game’s final 20 minutes.
The Huskies are 7-1 all-time against the Knights in a series dating back to the 2004-05 season, including a 67-41 in Orlando on Jan. 31. In the game, freshman guard Jalen Adams scored 10 points and dished out five assists, while the Husky defense held the Knights to just 23.5 percent shooting from the floor.
UCF (12-16, 6-11) is coming off a 73-65 win at home over Tulane on Thursday, which snapped a 7-game losing streak. The Knights are led in scoring by sophomore swingman A.J. Davis (11.8) and sophomore guard Adonys Henriquez (10.2). Davis is also UCF’s top rebounder (6.0), while senior guard Daiquan Walker leads in assists (3.9).
UConn is 7-1 at Gampel Pavilion in 2015-16 and owns a stellar 24-8 (.750) record at its on-campus home court in four years under current head coach Kevin Ollie.
