Napier Leads UConn Past South Florida in OT, 69-64
Shabazz Napier scored 24 points, and hit three three-pointers in overtime leading Connecticut to a 69-64 win over USF on Sunday.

UConn (19-9 overall, 9-7 BIG EAST), which defeated USF, 69-64 in overtime on Feb. 3, is coming off a 61-56 loss at Cincinnati on March 2. The Huskies are led by junior Shabazz Napier (17.1 ppg, 4.6 apg) and sophomore Ryan Boatright (15.3 ppg, 4.4 apg). Sophomore DeAndre Daniels (11.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and freshman Omar Calhoun (11.4 ppg) also average in double figures.

USF (11-17, 2-14) is coming off an 83-73 win over DePaul Sunday, which broke a 10-game losing streak. Junior Victor Rudd (11.7 ppg) is the Bulls’ top scorer. After reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time last season, this year has been a struggle throughout for the Bullfs.

In BIG EAST play, the Bulls rank last in scoring, scoring margin, field goal percentage, rebounding margin, and assists, and next to last in field goal percentage defense, and three-point shooting percentage. USF has allowed opponents to shoot 45.6 percent, while shooting just 36.8 percent itself. The Bulls are averaging just 54.0 points per game in BIG EAST play.

Rudd and senior forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (10.4) are the Bulls’ double-figure scorers. Joining them in the starting lineup is junior guard Martino Brock, senior guard Jawanza Poland, and sophomore guard Anthony Collins. Despite its struggles, USF gave UConn all it could handle in a 69-64 Husky win on Feb. 3. Fitzpatrick led the Bulls in that game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
