Hamilton Earns All-Conference Second Team Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. --- UConn sophomore swingman Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named to the American Athletic Conference Second Team and grad student Shonn Miller (Euclid, Ohio) was an Honorable Mention selection as the league announced its all-conference teams Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, Hamilton was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers of America All-District I (New England) Team.

Hamilton led the 21-10 Huskies in rebounding (8.7) and assists (4.8) this season and was a double figure scorer (11.6). He was the third-leading rebounder in the AAC in total games (8.7) and fourth in the league in just conference games (8.9). He led the AAC in defensive rebounds for total games and conference games. He also was among the league leaders both in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Miller, a grad student who came to UConn this season after a successful three-year college basketball career at Cornell, finished the regular season as the Huskies’ top scorer (12.6) and second-leading rebounder (5.5) behind Hamilton.

In conference games, Miller was third in the league in field goal percentage, third in free throw percentage and also appeared among the league’s Top 20 in scoring, rebounding and steals.

The all-conference teams are selected by a vote of the league’s 11 head coaches.
