STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team plays it regular season home opener on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against Vermont in Gampel Pavilion.
The Huskies are 1-0 on the season coming off an emotional win over Michigan State in the Armed Forces Classic at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The Spartans were ranked No. 14 at the time of the Huskies’ 66-62 win. The game also marked the head coaching debut of UConn’s Kevin Ollie. The Huskies are now ranked No. 23 in the latest Associated Press Poll.
Vermont is 1-0 on the season after an opening 54-53 win at Siena on Friday night. Vermont is a member of the America East Conference and has won 20 or more games for the past four seasons and in nine of the past 11 years. Vermont was 24-12 last year and lost to North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
The game will be televised by SNY and ESPN Regional Television, WatchESPN and be heard on the UConn IMG Sports Radio Network. Other television coverage around the country includes: MASN in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.
