STORRS, Conn. -
Some of the all-time great UConn-Syracuse men's basketball matchups will look to be replicated when the two teams play in Madison Square Garden on Monday night in the Tire Pro Classic.

How fitting that the Huskies (3-4) and No. 22 Orange meet in the World's Most Famous Arena - the site of many of their classic games - in a contest that will be televised on ESPN2. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET).

Whether it was Kemba Walker's 33-point, 12-rebound performance in a 76-71 overtime win over Syracuse in the 2010 Big East semifinals, or Syracuse's 127-117 victory in six overtimes in the 2009 Big East quarterfinals, Monday will be another memorable part of the rivalry.

Syracuse leads the all-time series, 55-37, and has won seven of the last nine meetings. In the most recent game, Daniel Hamilton had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 79-76 loss to the Orange in the Battle 4 Atlantis in 2015.

UConn enters the game off a 51-49 win over Boston University on Wednesday night in the XL Center. Freshman guard Christian Vital scored a career-high 13 points against the Terriers.

The Huskies have won two of their last three games and have shot 48-percent from the field in that stretch. Adams (19.7 ppg) and senior Rodney Purvis (14.0 ppg) have both averaged double-figures in the last three contests.

UConn's last win in the rivalry came by way of an upset, beating No. 6 Syracuse back on Feb. 13, 2013. Ryan Boatright scored 17 points in the 66-58 victory at the XL Center.

The No. 22 Orange (5-2) has lost two of its last three games entering Monday, following a 4-0 start to the season. Before a win over North Florida on Saturday, Syracuse had lost consecutive games to South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Andrew White III led the way for the Orange, scoring 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting to help Syracuse avoid North Florida's upset bid on Saturday - 77-71.

In seven games this season, the Orange has a 15.7 scoring margin over opponents and is shooting 47.6-percent as a team. White (17.0 ppg) and Tyler Lydon (10.3 ppg) are both averaging double-figures, leading Syracuse's offensive attack.
