PROVIDENCE – After recording the 11th-ever triple-double in program history against Central Connecticut on Dec. 23, UConn men’s basketball sophomore standout Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) was selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Hamilton became the 10th different UConn player to record a triple-double and first since Shabazz Napier in 2013 when he turned in a stellar 11-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist effort against the Blue Devils last week at the XL Center.
The sophomore boasts a team-best five double-doubles through UConn’s first 11 games and leads the team in rebounding (8.7), assists (5.91) and steals (1.18) per game in his second season in Storrs. Nationally, his 7.8 defensive rebounds/gm mark is seventh in the country, while his assist/gm ratio is good for 30th.
Hamilton and the Huskies play their penultimate non-conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 29 when they challenge Texas in Austin at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. For a complete preview of the game, please CLICK HERE.
