Head Coach Bob Diaco
On his team’s performance:
“Really proud of the seniors in particular. They continue to strain and give despite of many obstacles and challenges and persevere through faith in them seeing and believing. They led the team this week with a strong preparation. We felt good about coming down here as a team. The players were confident based on what they did all week. We were predominately led by the seniors and by our native Florida players. I think there are 11 Florida players on our football team, which helped strain the importance of this game to the others on their team. We were strongly supported by the UConn fans and their big groups so it feels so great for them that they could make a great investment and help invest in their brothers understand how important this was for them.
I would just like to commend Coach (George) O’Leary. I have been such a fan of his and the team that he puts together. He has been a great head coach and ambassador for college football and leader of young men for a long, long time. His team plays with class and character. In particular, Justin Holman -- gutsy performance giving it up for his brothers after being off and in challenging circumstances with his throwing hand. Just a special, gutsy performance, I thought, by him.
The team is excited getting our first road win. We keep tapping at the rock and eventually it’s going to crack. I feel like all three phases played together for four quarters.”
