Connecticut Quotes

Head Coach Paul Pasqualoni

Opening statement: "I'm obviously very happy with the way the team responded after I wasn't very happy with them one week ago. I like the way they responded to adversity and stayed focused. We played good physical football and were able to convert off turnovers and when we were in the red zone. Our defense played tough and didn't let them run the ball. They have some tough receivers and I thought for the most part we contained them. I was also proud of the special teams, they did a good job of getting us field position."

On the effort they showed today: "As I said last week, I see this kind of effort coming every week. They were very sluggish last week but we got out in practice this week and played physically. We really had a focused week and I thought they kids handled the fact that it was Thanksgiving well and didn't get distracted." On what he told the players after last weeks disappointing loss: "We just asked them to accept responsibility and to look at the film and be critical of themselves. We tried to have them learn from it and put it behind them."

On the importance of the win: "I think that UConn and Rutgers, even going back before the BIG EAST, was a pretty big rivalry. I think that's because of the proximity of the schools and the fact that most of the kids know each other and us coaches know each other from recruiting. All of that adds to the game, and the fact that we needed the game made our focus intensify."

Senior Kicker Dave Teggart (#38)

On how big the win is on senior day: "Most of us have been here together for five years so the fact that we're going out of here with a win is huge."

On his first missed XPA: "It would have been nice to put that one through on senior night, but I don't know what happened. It was like hitting a sand wedge out of a trap-you can't hit behind the ball and expect it to go in. It had nothing to do with the blockers. It would have been nice to keep the streak, but at least we got the win."

Senior WR Kashif Moore (#6)

On the offense scoring 40 points: "Once we got the ball in the good field position from Nick (Williams), we were able to convert in the red zone and put the points on the board."

On what this win means: "It means a lot. It's good motivation for the Cincinnati game as we try to make a bowl game. It was important to beat one of the top teams that was looking to make a BCS game."

Junior QB Johnny McEntee (#18)

On what they did to prepare: "We practiced hard all week, just like we did for Louisville. I think today we just came out and executed a little bit better. We had their number from the start."

On the receivers job today: "Last week we struggled to convert on some plays we probably should have, but today they put out a great effort and were able to score. We didn't have to do too much with the passing game because of the field position, but when we needed to we were able to."

Rutgers Quotes

Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano

Opening Statement: "I am very disappointed, disappointed for our players, disappointed for our fans, for the university, and the state of New Jersey. We had an opportunity to do something special today, but unfortunately it was not our day. I'm proud of our team the way they continued to fight. Just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong. That's the way life is and it's the way you respond that makes the man you are."

On mental mistakes: "I am not sure you can just classify things as mental mistakes. I don't know if it's a mental mistake or a physical error, I can't judge that. If you look at the half there was no penalties, so I don't think it's a mental thing. We had some penalties, movement things, but my point is I don't know if its mental or physical mistakes. When a guy is in a pile up and someone gets the ball, I'm not sure that is mental. Defensively I am anxious to see the game and when you are put on a short field, you have to make them kick a field goal."

"We needed to play better on defense on a day we turned it over and we didn't. Also the special teams, all year we did good but we clearly got our rear ends kicked in the kicking game and special teams."

Redshirt Junior DB Kasheem Greene (#20)

On the miscues: "We fought hard, guys gave it all, some things just didn't go our way, UConn did a great job executing their game plan and doing what they did. For the most part we fought [the] guys fought."

What's the message to the young guys? "We have to keep our heads up, keep fighting, keep challenging and keep believing in ourselves, that's what it all comes down to."

On UConn: "They came out and run their offense and did what they had to do."

Senior defensive back David Rowe (#4)

On the BIG EAST title: "It hurts, it's my last time playing for a BIG EAST Championship we were at the finish line and just didn't cross it.
