STORRS, Conn. – University of Connecticut football seniors Jory Johnson (Mobile, Ala.) and Michael Smith (Houston, Texas) have accepted invitations to participate in select all-star games in the coming weeks.

Johnson, an outside linebacker that started all 12 games this season for the Huskies, will play in the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic at the Crampton Bowl in his home state in Montgomery, Ala.  The game is scheduled for 2:00 pm CT on Saturday, January 19 and will be broadcast live on the CBS Sports Network.

Johnson totaled 95 tackles, second on the team, including 37 solo in his final season for UConn.  He finished his career with 227 tackles and 20.5 for a loss and was earned the team’s John L. Toner Scholar Athlete Award at the conclusion of the season.

Smith returned to the Connecticut lineup after sitting out the 2011 season and made an immediate impact in the Husky receiving corps.  He was selected to play in the annual Texas vs. The Nation at Eagle Stadium in Allen, Texas.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 pm CT on Saturday, February 2.

Smith played in all 12 games and made three starts at wide receiver.  He was third on the team with 31 receptions and second with 407 yards, averaging 13.1 yards per reception.  In his return to the field, Smith made three catches for 30 yards in the season-opener against Massachusetts (Aug. 30).  He made a season-high five catches for 54 yards and scored his only touchdown of the season against Temple (Oct. 13).
