STORRS, Conn. – The UConn football team will host its Pro Scouting Day on Wednesday, March 22 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Shenkman Training Center.
Players will weigh in at 9 a.m. followed by timing and testing drills that will begin at 9:30 a.m. The drills include: bench, vertical, 40-yard dash, broad jump, shuttles, position-specific drills and questionnaires. It is expected that 20-25 scouts will be in attendance from a variety of NFL teams.
Participants for Pro Day include: Garrett Anderson, John Green, Andreas Knappe, Brian Lemelle, Richard Levy, Sean Marinan, Obi Melifonwu, Mikal Myers, Bobby Puyol, Noel Thomas, Matthew Walsh and Jhavon Williams.
UConn has had success producing NFL-ready players. Currently 18 former Huskies are on NFL rosters. Most recently, Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Nick Williams played in Super Bowl LI.
Safety Obi Melifonwu opened eyes at the 2017 NFL Combine jumping 44 inches in the vertical jump (sixth best in recorded combine history) and 11 feet, 8 inches in the broad jump (second best in combine history).
The 2017 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 27 and run through Saturday, April 29.
