STORRS, Conn. -
The University of Connecticut football team held its second annual Dog House Party for the Husky student body on Wednesday night at the Mark R. Shekman Training Center.
Over 400 students showed up to watch a UConn spring football practice followed by a pizza party with the coaches and players. The students, who started lining up an hour before the event to get in early, ran on to the field with high-fives from the players and got an up-close and personal look at the hard-hitting and speed of a football practice.
Following the practice, there was a raffle for students with a UConn football jersey and electronics as prizes. Coach Bob Diaco and a number of players did the honors of calling the winning numbers. The entire group of players, coaches and students then sang the "UConn Husky" fight song and then there was a mad dash to the pizza.
"This is a world-class institution and we are honored to serve you," Diaco told the students. "Your support for this team is so critical for our future success and we all want to thank you for your support and enthusiasm."
