UConn Blue vs. White Game - April 12, 2014 - Rentschler Field
UConn redshirt senior cornerback Byron Jones
On what it was like to play in the first Spring Game under head football coach Bob Diaco
"It was a blast. It was great weather and a great showing by the fans. I can't thank them enough."
On how sharp the defense played today and how the defensive line performed
"Those guys are tough guys and that's where it starts, on the defensive line. They've been tough throughout the whole spring, and they will continue that into the summer."
On how competitive it was today with the game coming down to the last drive
"It was close at the end I was getting a little nervous but luckily Chris DeBerry got the strip at the end."
On how this spring has gone overall under Diaco
"It's been great. Coach Matt Balis has done a great job in the weight room. Those workouts are the toughest workouts I've been through in my life. When I get out of the weight room I am just done. The new coaching staff though is very passionate."
UConn sophomore quarterback Tim Boyle
On his thoughts on the spring practices under Diaco
"Diaco is a great coach and he did a great job putting together the coaching staff. Our team is very excited for the upcoming year because I think we have a lot of opportunities to make big plays on offense and defense. All of us are so excited and I think the Spring Game showed that a little bit."
On how much more comfortable he is with the UConn offense this season as opposed to last year
"I'm a lot more comfortable. Last year it definitely was the speed of the game that I needed to get used to, but after spending more time looking at the film I know what's going to happen when I'm out there and I am more cool and collective."
UConn redshirt senior wide receiver Geremy Davis
On what's it going to be like to enter the stadium this season walking down through the student section
"It's going to be awesome. It will get us pumped up to be right near the student section. It's something new that Diaco created which is awesome."
On if he is comfortable with all four quarterbacks throwing to him
"They are all looking pretty good right now. Obviously everyone has something to fix but that's something they can work on this summer."
On how exciting it has been on campus this week with the success of the basketball programs
"It's been awesome I want to congratulate both the men's and women's program on their national championships. Everything has been great and very lively."
UConn redshirt senior quarterback Chandler Whitmer
On what his thoughts are about the collection of wide receivers UConn has this season
"They're great. Geremy Davis is obviously doing a great job but even the young guys have improved and matured so we are happy with those guys and they're getting better."
On if UConn's wide receivers can be considered the strength of the team
"They're playmakers and they're good. It's good to have them out there to spread the ball around."
