PHILADELPHIA -- Former UConn football defensive lineman B.J. McBryde (Beaver Falls, Pa.) has signed a free agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. McBryde was part of a 16-member rookie free agent class for the Eagles inked following the 2015 NFL Draft.
McBryde joins classmates Byron Jones (New Britain, Conn.) and Geremy Davis (Lawrenceville, Ga.) as former Huskies to link up with NFL squads in the draft process. Jones was a first round pick, 27th overall, of the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday (April 30) before Davis went to the New York Giants in the sixth round on Saturday (May 2). UConn has had at least one player drafted in each season since 2005 with multiple picks in seven of the last eight drafts.
The 6'5 defensive tackle finished his UConn career after playing in 30 contests over the last four seasons, including all 12 with eight starts as a senior in 2014. McBryde recorded 33 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss in his career, with a career-best 26 stops last season. He also added a pass deflection and has a career-high six tackles at USF on Sept. 19.
