CROMWELL, Conn. - The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics was once again well represented at the annual Travelers Championship Pro-Am day which was held on Wednesday at the TPC River Highlands.

The Travelers Championship is a Connecticut tradition that dates back over 60 years and is part of the PGA Tour’s FedExCup series. The tournament is an important part of the state’s sporting landscape – as is UConn athletics.

Former UConn track and field All-American Andy Bessette is the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Office at Travelers and plays a key role in the championship.

UConn Director of Athletics Warde Manuel, head basketball coach Kevin Ollie and associate head women’s basketball coach Chris Dailey all played in the Celebrity Pro-Am.

Husky football coach Bob Diaco, along with Manuel and Dailey, took part in the FML, CPAs Celebrity Mini Golf Tournament – that benefitted a number of local charities.

Tournament competition begins on Thursday and wraps up on Sunday.
