    NEWPORT, R.I. - It's a sure sign that that the college football season is nearing - the American Athletic Conference Summer Kickoff and Media Days.

    Coaches, student-athletes and administrators from schools and the league office welcome media and bowl officials to Newport, R.I., each year to get ready for the upcoming year.

    UConn will be represented in Newport this year by senior wide receiver Geremy Davis (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and senior cornerback Byron Jones (New Britain, Conn.) and first-year UConn head coach Bob Diaco.

    The event started on Monday with a golf tournament at Newport National Country Club, which was followed by the most famous event of any conference media day the in country - an authentic Rhode Island clam bake served on the shores of Newport Harbor.

    Media Day takes place on Tuesday and beings with the taking of a group photo of the league's coaches and then the student-athletes in attendance. From there, the coaches and student-athletes will meet and be interviewed by print, electronic and digital media for the rest of the day.
