Kids Get Free Posters at Game

Children 18 and under at the Connecticut-Duke football game on Saturday will receive, as they leave, a life sized "growth chart" poster featuring UConn quarterback Dan Orlovsky. The posters are sponsored by People's Bank and are similar to the ones that People's Bank sponsored this past winter for Diana Taurasi and Emeka Okafor with Ben Gordon. The pride of Shelton, Connecticut, Orlovsky could break every UConn career passing record this season and is on the preseason watch list for several major national awards.

    Duke Game Officially Sold Out

Saturday's contest with Duke has officially sold out, the UConn Division of Athletics announced on Friday. The game marks the third time UConn will play to a capacity crowd at Rentschler Field in just eight contests staged there. UConn's games in 2003 against Boston College and Rutgers were also sell outs.

    Political Leaders Show Husky Spirit

Three of Connecticut's political leaders wore UConn jerseys on Capitol Hill as they took part in the national "Show Your Spirit Day" program on behalf of the V Foundation for Cancer Research and a celebration of the 25th anniversary of ESPN (based in Bristol, Connecticut). "Show Your Spirit Day" encouraged Americans to wear their favorite team shirt to work.

From left, U.S. Senator Chris Dodd (wearing the No. 7 UConn football jersey of Dan Orlovsky), U.S. Rep. John Larson (wearing the No. 3 UConn women's basketball jersey of Diana Taurasi), U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman (wearing the No. 4 UConn men's basketball jersey of Ben Gordon).
