Puyol Honored By American Athletic Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Connecticut redshirt senior kicker Bobby Puyol (North Palm Beach, Fla.) was named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Huskies' 13-10 win over Virginia on Saturday.

Puyol scored seven of UConn's 13 points as the Huskies overcame a 10-0 deficit to defeat Virginia. Puyol hit a 21-yard field goal in the second quarter and made his second game-winning field goal of the young season with a 43-yard kick with 1:33 left in the fourth quarter. Puyol has gone four-for-four on field goals in 2016 and has hit eight straight, dating to last season.

UConn returns to action on Saturday when its plays host to Syracuse at 1:00 p.m. at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network and heard on the UConn IMG Sports Radio Network.

Quarterback Greg Ward Jr., of Houston was named the Offensive Player of the Week while the Cougars' Steven Taylor was the Defensive Player of the Week.
