UConn Golfers Win Loyola Intercollegiate

Dietrich, Khan Lead Come-From-Behind Victory

WHILE AT UCONN: Returned to action in 2016-17 after redshirting during the 2015-16 season… Played in four events in 2016-17, all as an individual, averaging 76.0 per round for 12 rounds, with two rounds of par or better and a low round of 70… Named to 2016-17 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team… Finished in a tie for 20th in the 2017 Russell C. Palmer Cup, a tie for 27th in the 2017 Connecticut Open, and a tie for 34th in the 2017 New England Amateur Championship.

SPRING 2017: Competed in three events, all as an individual player, averaging 75.6 per round for nine rounds with two rounds of par or better and low round of 70… Best finish was a tie for 28th in the VGA/UConn Collegiate Invitational at Mohegan Sun Golf Club.

FALL 2016: Competed in one event on the fall schedule, the Connecticut Cup, as an individual player… Averaged 77.3 per round and finished in a tie for 52nd place.

HIGH SCHOOL: Came to UConn after starting for four years and becoming an outstanding team leader at Notre Dame High School of West Haven under Coach Steve Kirck. Named Notre Dame 2014-15 Athlete of the Year, the school’s most prestigious athletic award, by a vote of the school’s head coaches, citing athletic achievement and contributions to his team and the athletic department as a whole. Team captain. Three-time All-Southern Connecticut Conference selection. 2015 Division II All-State pick as a senior. 2015 Division II State Tournament Co-Medalist. Runner-up in 2015 SCC Tournament, helping Notre Dame win its first conference team championship in 14 years. Also runner-up in 2013 SCC Tournament. Helped Notre Dame win its first-ever state championship in golf in 2014. New Haven Register Area MVP in 2014-15 and three-time Register All-Area Team selection. Earned medalist honors in 11 matches during 2014-15 high school season and had a stretch of five consecutive under-par rounds.
    

ADDITIONAL GOLF HIGHLIGHTS: Finished in tie for second place at Challenge Cup Computer Merchant Cup … Tied for fifth place at AJGA New Era Championship… Qualifier for 2015 Big I National … National qualifier for 2013 Doral Publix Junior Classic.
