HOUSTON, Texas - Freshmen Jeb Buchanan (Loudonville, N.Y.) and Matt Carroll (Heathrow, Fla) each shot their career-best round as the University of Connecticut men's golf team completed play Tuesday at the Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club.
The Huskies finished with a team score of 920 for the three rounds to finish in a tie for 13th place in the team competition. The University of the Pacific edged the host Rice University by four strokes to take the team title, 874-878. Ji Hwan Park of the University of San Francisco took individual medalist honors by three strokes over Christopher Brown of Rice, 210-213.
Buchanan and Carroll each fired a one-under par 71 Tuesday to finish the three round competition. Buchanan finished the tournament in a tie for 36th place to each top individual honors for the Huskies in the event.
UConn returns to action February 23-24 when it travels to the Rio Pinar Invitational hosted by the University of Central Florida at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
