UConn Finished Tied For Seventh In The Caribbean Intercollegiate Classic

COSTA CARIBE RESORT, Puerto Rico (March 9, 2011) - Junior Matthew Dziubina shot at two-under par 214 to finish in a tie for fifth place overall and lead the University of Connecticut golf team to a tie for seventh place in the Caribbean Intercollegiate Classic, hosted by St. John's University, March 7th through March 9th.

USC Upstate captured the team title with a 17-under score of 847, taking the team title by 10 shots over Johnson & Wales University of Florida. Nova Southeastern of Florida finished third. UConn shot a team score of 20-over 884 and tied the University of Tampa for seventh.

Dziubina shot and even par 72 in round one, followed by back to back 71's in the final two rounds to finish as the top Husky performer. Senior Chris DeLucia finished one shot behind in a tie for ninth place, with senior Matt Carroll (+8, 224), junior Adam Vaccari (+9, 225) and sophomore Brian Hughes (+9, 225) rounding out the Husky top five.
