PRINCETON, N.J. - The University of Connecticut men's golf team finished in a tie for tenth place in the team competition in action Sunday at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club.
Rutgers University captured the team title with a two-round score of 596, led by individual medalist James Arbes, who finished at three-over par 145 for the 36-hole competition.
UConn shot a two-round total of 632 and tied with George Mason for the tenth spot in the 14-team field. The Huskies were led in the tourney by senior L.J. Tosches (Grafton, Mass.), who shot 77-80--157, good for a tie for 31st. Freshman Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) finished one shot behind Tosches at 77-81--158, tied for 38th place. Freshmen Jeb Buchanan (Loudonville, N.Y.), Brian Hwang (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and Adam Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) rounded out the Husky lineup for the weekend, finishing tied for 44th, 50th and 61st, respectively.
The Huskies return to action April 19-21 when they travel to Lake Jovita Country Club in Dade City, Fla. for the 2009 BIG EAST Conference Championship.
