Men's Golf Places Ninth At Adams Cup of Newport

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's golf team placed ninth with a score of 886 at the Adams Cup of Newport held in Newport, R.I. The Huskies were led by junior Brian Hughes' three-round score of 218. Hughes' 218 was good enough to finish tied for 18th overall.

UCF won the team title by nine strokes with an 842 total. The Knights also had the top individual finisher with Ricardo Gouveia scoring a 204 on the week.

Hughes was followed closely by seniors Jeb Buchanan and Matthew Dziubina who finished the three-round tournament at 222. Buchanan closed with a 69 while Hughes and Dziubina both recorded 71 on the final 18.

Senior Adam Vaccari and freshman Dane Rosa rounded out the scoring for Connecticut with 233 and 237, respectively.

The Huskies compete next at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at the Bull's Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, Conn. beginning Monday, September 26.
