Golf Leads Hawks Invite Behind Individual Leader DeLucia

South Kent, Conn. (September 27, 2010)- University of Connecticut senior Chris DeLucia shot a one-under par 71 to share a tie for the individual lead and lead the Huskies to the team lead after the first round of competition at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull's Bridge Golf Course, hosted by the University of Hartford. The second round was suspended late Monday and will be completed Tuesday morning, followed by the third and final round.

UConn shot a team total of two-over 290 and holds a one-shot advantage over Dartmouth College and a four-shot lead over St. John's University. Hartford (300) and Sacred Heart University (301) round out the top five teams after the first round of play.

DeLucia is in a tie for the lead with Peter Williamson of Dartmouth and D.J. Lantz of Hartford. Husky senior Matt Dubrowski is tied for fourth after firing a 72, senior Jeremy Troy is tied for eighth with a 73 and junior Jeb Buchanan is tied for 14th after a 74.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the completion of round two and the complete play of round three.
