VALENTINE, Neb. --- Junior Nick Harrington (Chaplin, Conn.) shot an even-par 216, which included a round of 6-under 66, to finish as the top golfer on the UConn men's golf team at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational, held at The Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb.
Harrington shot a 72-66-78=216 to finish in a tie for 44th place in the 81-player field. The result upped Harrington's career total of par or better rounds to nine, including three sub-70 rounds.
Also for the Huskies, junior co-captain Jimmy Hervol (Hopkinton, Mass.) had two sub-70 rounds on his way to a 2-over 68-69-81=218 and a tie for 58th place. The two sub-70 rounds give Hervol 12 in his college career, as well as 30 rounds of par or better.
Junior co-captain Nabeel Khan (Westerville, Ohio) shot a 7-over 72-76-75=223 to tie for 65th, while redshirt sophomore Drake Hull (Rutland, Vt.) tied for 67th place with an 8-over 73-76-75=224, and redshirt sophomore Zach Iannone (Hamden, Conn.) tied for 75th with a 12-over 72-77-79=228.
Playing as an individual, junior Blake Kelley (Manchester, Conn.) came in 61st with a 4-over 71-71-78=220, which included his fourth and fifth rounds of par or better.
As a team, the Huskies' 284-287-307=878 earned a 12th-place finish.
UConn will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10, when it will be the host team for the ninth annual Connecticut Cup, which will feature 15 teams and a 90-player field at Ellington Ridge Country Club.
