KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- A second consecutive two-over par 73 by University of Connecticut freshman Zach Zaback (Farmington, Conn.) earned him a sixth-place tie on the individual leaderboard and a berth on the All-Tournament Team after the final round Tuesday at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic at Kiawah Island, S.C.

Zaback (71-73-73-217) finished his three rounds at four-over par, good enough to tie South Carolina's Matthew NeSmith and Alex Ellis of College of Charleston for sixth place in field of 135 players. It was the second Top 10 finish and the third Top 15 finish for Zaback in the five tournaments on UConn's 2012 fall schedule. Zaback won medalist honors at The Connecticut Cup three weeks ago.

South Carolina's Caleb Sturgeon (68-74-68-210) won individual honors at the Kiawah Classic, edging teammate Will Starke (70-73-69) by two strokes on the Turtle Point Golf Course. They led South Carolina (282-293-284-859) to the tournament championship by 20 strokes over Winthrop.

UConn (299-311-305-915) finished in 14th place in the 26-team field. Finishing behind Zaback for the Huskies was senior Brian Hughes (Fairfield, Conn.), who finished in a tie for 63rd with a 76-80-76-232, while junior Michael Masso (Suffield, Conn.) and sophomore Chris Wiatr (Woodbury, Conn.) both finished in a tie for 67th place with a 78-76-79-233 and a 74-82-77-233, respectively. Freshman Stephen Pastore (Greenwich, Conn.) finished 132nd with a 89-82-89-260. Playing as an individual, UConn freshman John Flaherty (Glastonbury, Conn.) shot 77-79-82-238 to finish in a tie for 89th place.

The Kiawah Classic was the final tournament on the fall portion of  UConn's 2012-13 schedule.
