HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Feb. 19, 2013) --- University of Connecticut golfers freshman Zach Zaback (Farmington, Conn.), sophomore Chris Wiatr (Woodbury, Conn.), and freshman Stephen Pastore (Greenwich, Conn.) produced identical 5-over par 77s Monday as the Huskies tied for 13th place after the first round of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The start of the tournament, hosted by Francis Marion University at the Wexford Plantation Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C., was delayed by frost, resulting in an unfinished second round Monday. The UConn trio was included in a tie for 39th place among the 90 players in the field. UConn’s aggregate 22-over 310 deadlocked South Carolina-Aiken for the 13th spot, just six strokes out of the top 10. Tournament host Francis Marion led the tournament after the first round with a 3-over aggregate 291, while Richmond was in second place with a 4-over 292.
