Parajeckas Tied for Fifth Place at GW Invite

    BETHANY BEACH, Del. (March 24, 2007)-- University of Connecticut senior Jason Parajeckas (Woburn, Mass.) shot a one-under par 71 Saturday and stands in a tie for fifth place after day one of the George Washington Invitational at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club.

    The Huskies shot a team total of 304 on the day to stand in 13th place in the 24-team field. The University of Pennsylvania holds the team lead at 286, while Chance Pippitone of Penn and Anthony Campanile of Monmouth each shot 66 to share the individual lead.

    Parajeckas has now shot under par in all four competitive rounds this spring for the Huskies. He had 15 pars, two birdies and one bogey Saturday en route to his 71. Junior A.J. Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) shot a 75 and stands tied for 32nd place. Junior Brian Travalja (Oradell, N.J.) carded a 78, freshman Derek Newman (Palatine, Ill.) shot an 80 and sophomore Bret Siekierski (North Grosvenordale, Conn.) totaled an 83 to round out the Husky scores for the day.

    The tournament concludes Sunday.
