SARASOTA, Fla. --- UConn rising senior Zach Zaback (Farmington, Conn.) has been named to the 2015 Division I PING All-Northeast Region Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The GCAA honors college golf players in six regions across the country --- Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. A total of 155 college players earned all-region honors for 2015. Zaback was also a PING All-Northeast Region selection in 2013. And he was named to the 2014 Division I All-New England Team.
Zaback, who will serve as a co-captain for the 2015-16 Huskies, played in all 11 UConn events in 2014-15, averaging 74.2 strokes per round. He had one Top 10 and five Top 20 finishes, with a season-best of second place in the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational at Lake of Isles Golf Course in North Stonington, Conn. Zaback shot seven rounds of par or better.
Zaback was one of 10 players from the American Athletic Conference selected to the PING All-Region Teams. Temple's Brandon Matthews was also named to the All-Northeast Team, while East Carolina's Wesley Conover was on the All-East Team. The USF trio of Claudio Correa, Rigel Fernandes and Chase Koepka were named to the All-Southeast Team, and Blair Hamilton and Roman Robledo of Houston and Bryson Dechambeau and Austin Smotherman of SMU were selected to the All-Central Team.
