Myers and Wiatr Join Golf Program

July 19, 2011

Storrs, Conn. - Head Coach Dave Pezzino has announced the addition of two in-state standouts to the University of Connecticut golf program, as Dan Myers (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Chris Wiatr (Woodbury, Conn.) will join the Husky program as freshman this fall.

"Dan and Chris are both outstanding young men and golfers," said Pezzino. "They are both excited to be coming to UConn and I am thrilled that they have decided to join us."

Myers was a Division I All-State selection in 2010, leading Ridgefield to the Division I State Championship. He was also selected First Team All-Fairfield County and was a team captain. He was a four-year letterwinner in golf under head coach Mike Merati.

Wiatr was a two-time Team MVP at the Canterbury School and captured medalist honors 16 times during his four year high school career. In his senior season, he averaged 36.2 strokes for nine holes and won seven consecutive events to finish the season. He was team captain as a senior under head coach Bob Potter.
