Golf Finishes Play at Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate

Verona, N.Y. - Junior Brian Hughes finished in a tie for 22nd place to lead the University of Connecticut golf team to an eighth place finish in the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate, completed Monday at the Kaluhyat Golf Course at the Turning Stone Resort. The event was hosted by the University of Missouri.

Baylor captured the team title in the event, shooting a three-round total of 11-under 853 to finish 11 shots ahead of Texas Christian and 13 shots clear of Purdue and Missouri. UConn shot a three round total of 904 to finish eighth.

Julien Brun of TCU captured medalist honors at eight under par, finishing two shots ahead of teammate Daniel Jennevret. Hughes finished at five over par for the Huskies to garner 22nd place.

Other Huskies in action in the event were senior Jeb Buchanan (tie for 28th), senior Matt Carroll (49th place), senior Matt Dziubina (tie for 50th) and freshman Chris Wiatr (tie for 53rd place).

UConn returns to action on September 19-20 at the Adams Cup of Newport at Newport National Golf Course.
