Golf Finishes in Tenth Place at McLaughlin

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The University of Connecticut golf team finished in tenth place after the final round of play Saturday at the McLaughlin at Bethpage Red Golf Course, hosted by St. John’s University.

Coastal Carolina captured the team title at five-under par, earning a four shot victory over UNC Wilmington. The Huskies finished the three-round tourney at +32 and in tenth place. Greg Shuman of Harvard, Sam Lyons of Coastal Carolina and Nyasha Mauchaza of Towson tied for medalist honors at two under.

Junior Matt Dubrowski was the low finisher for the Huskies at six-over, tied for 26th place. Junior Chris DeLucia also finished at six-over, but competed as an individual in the tournament. Freshman Matt Dziubina shot seven-over and tied for 34th place in his first collegiate tournament.

The Huskies return to action Monday and Tuesday when they compete in the Adams Cup at Newport National hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
