NEWPORT, R.I. (September 22, 2008)-- The University of Connecticut men's golf team stands in 14th place overall after two rounds of competition Monday at the 15th Annual Adams Cup of Newport/Cleveland Golf Classic at Newport National Golf Club.
The Huskies put together a team score of 622 for the two rounds, shooting 312 in the morning and 310 in the afternoon. Texas A&M stands in first place overall with a two-round total of 566, led by individual leader Bronson Burgoon, who shot rounds of 69 and 66 to stand at nine-under and take a four-shot lead. The Aggies hold a five-shot advantage over Minnesota in the team competition.
Sophomore Chris DeLucia (Norwich, Conn.) was the top Husky performer Monday, shooting rounds of 74 and 78 to total 152 and stand in 40th place overall. Sophomore Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) shot 79 and 76 and his 155 has him in a tie for 48th place.
The tourney is hosted by the University of Rhode Island and the field includes 16 teams from 13 different conferences. Competition concludes Tuesday with 18 holes of action.
