Golf Tied for Ninth at MacDonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 4, 2008)-- Sophomore Matt Dubrowski (Bergenfield, N.J.) stands in a tie for 18th place to help the University of Connecticut golf team to a tie for ninth place after two rounds Saturday of the MacDonald Cup, hosted by Yale University at the Yale Golf Course.

The University of Oklahoma leads the team competition by one stroke over Sacred Heart University, with Yale and Bryant University four and five shots behind, respectively. UConn shot a two-round score of 600 and is tied with Central Connecticut in ninth place.

Erik Downs of Flagler College shot 67-69 for a 136 total and a three-shot advantage in the individual competition.

Dubrowski shot 72-74 for a 146 total and his spot tied for 18th. Freshman Adam Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) is tied for 40th after shooting 75-76--151.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Sunday, weather permitting.
