New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Matt Dubrowski shot an even par 70 Sunday in the final round to lead the University of Connecticut golf team to an eighth place finish in the MacDonald Cup at Yale Golf Course.
The host Bulldogs captured the team title with a score of two-over par 842 for the three-round tourney. Iowa State finished second, three shots behind Yale, which shot a team total of six-under 274 in the final round to come from behind and win. Tom McCarthy and Ben Wescoe of Yale finished one-two in the individual standings and six and five-under, respectively.
Dubrowski finished in a tie for 24th place at six-over 216. He shot a first round 68 and final round 70, but could not overcome a second round 78. Sophomore Jeb Buchanan was the next Husky finisher at 219, tied for 34th place. Freshman Matthew Dziubina finished in a tie for 41st at 220.
